CCIE Language Class Announcement
Osiyo nigada (hello to all)
Our next Cherokee language class's will start soon. August 5th. and go through to November 18th. This will be 16 weeks of classes. Time is from 6:00 pm to 7:30pm every Thursday evening. At the Arlington Church of Christ located at 3870 Castleman St. in Riverside California. All teens and adults are welcome. And again, no fee for members, $20.00 for non-members.
Based on what I've learned in Tahlequah, this class will be very different from the previous 2 classes. There will more emphasis on conversation and less on syllabary. The class will be a lot of fun and loaded with gadugi. If you have not already done so, please register by return email. Please respond by August 1st, so that I can have all necessary class materials ready.

Friends surprise CCIE’S Advisor!
Friends, Theresa and Shauna surprised CCIE Advisor Wendi Hardy with a gift at a Council Meeting. During the meeting Wendi was presented with a traditional Cherokee Tear dress.

When asked about the gift Wendi said, I'm very proud of the tear dress. Because it is a traditional tear dress, because Shauna and Theresa collaborated on the dress and because those 2 chose the colors and patterns that fit me so well.
The ladies appliquéd turtles in the shoulder and the skirt bands. I have no idea how long it took them to do the dress, but I know that we had talked about it before the 3 of us went to Tahlequah 2 years ago. I'm guessing that they started the dress about the same time that Theresa helped and taught Shauna in the making of her tear skirt.
A little of Shauna's tear skirt is also incorporated in my dress. Lastly, the gifting of the dress was a total surprise to me I was surprised and honored.
Wendi is a council member as well as being our Cherokee Language Class instructor.
