The Cherokee Community of the Inland Empire (CCIE) is a California community of Cherokees dedicated to Cherokee history, culture, heritage, tradition and fellowship. We are a non-political, non-profit Native American organization whose members reside outside the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation and Bands. Our members reside primarily in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties as well as the High Desert area. We have come together on the basis of our shared history and heritage out of an interest in the continuation of and a love for the Cherokee People and Nations.
We are a recognized member group of the at-large satellite communities of the Cherokee Nation. We are organized under the bylaws of the Cherokee Nation Community Association (CNCA) and maintain close ties with the Nation. We are a 501(3) not-for-profit organization. Visit the Communities page at Cherokee.org here for more information. To learn more about the origins of the at-large Cherokee Communities please click here.
Our Meetings are held monthly on the 3rd Saturday at the Sherman Indian School in Riverside, CA.
It is critically important that we find innovative ways to retain and nurture the culture and heritage of the Cherokee people. We believe the concept of community is the best way to achieve this goal. Through sharing of our stories, our skills, our knowledge, we will develop stronger ties to our culture and encourage responsible citizenship.
